Logitech MX518 Gaming Mouse | 1,600-dpi with Adjustable side buttons
Written by Admin on February 29, 2008
The Logitech MX518 has some mouth watering specs if you appreciate some of the more technical points to a mouse. For any gamer a quick look down at its features just goes to show how thoughtful Logitech have been in creating this awe inspiring mouse.
While there is always competition on the market, the MX518 has some unique features that really do help win over any serious gamer. The first important feature is its in-game sensitivity switching. Buttons on the mouse itself allow you to switch between 400, 800 and 1600dpi resolution the best part being you don’t need any software for the feature.
It also has an expanded 16-bit data format that pretty much completely destroys any lag you are ever likely to experience in a mouse. Naturally the mouse itself has plenty of buttons, each one pre programmed to do specific tasks, but with the software provided you can easily reprogram them to your satisfaction and make better use of your browsers forward and back buttons on it.
The look of the mouse is quite nice as well. Aimed at the “hardened” gamer, the mouse itself looks like it has been chucked through a war zone due to the bullet dents all over it, yet a clear covering over the mouse itself causes the effect to radiate stylishness without getting in the way of the comfort. It also has an excellent thumb and pinky rest that prevents excessive strain on either when using the mouse for long periods of time.
All in all this is an excellent mouse, and is currently, one of the best out there that you can buy at the moment.
Main Features
- Adjustable Sensitivity via on mouse button
- Up to 1,600-dpi Resolution
- Moulded Grip

Antec Notebook Cooler | Quiet operation Ball Baring Fans - USB Powered
Written by Admin on February 29, 2008
Cooling for laptops is often overlooked because you don’t really associate modding your laptop for extra performance. But even if you’re not planning on overclocking your Notebook it’s a good idea to purchase extra cooling because all the components are fitted so close together it reduces the amount of airflow inside. Too much heat can cause instability in the Notebook, causing them to crash and reducing the life of the notebook.
The Antec Notebook Cooler is made out of aluminum that conducts the heat from the bottom of the notebook and has 2 large ball baring fans which extract the hot air. As the two fans are ball baring fans the amount of noise that the Cooler creates is vastly reduced, causing the Antec Notebook Cooler to be almost silent in operation. Since Laptops are used on the go, Antec decided to build their cooler to run without the need of an external power supply or extra batteries, but instead its built so that its powered by your notebook through a USB port keeping the notebook as portable as possible.
Main Features
- Silent Ball Baring Fans
- Increases Life of Notebook
- Added USB ports
- No batteries needed

Creative SoundBlaster external sound card | 24bit sound Quality USB connectivity
Written by Admin on February 28, 2008
Before deciding which sound card to buy, you should look at what you’re going to be using for. If you have a prebuilt system that is still in warranty an external sound card is the best way to upgrade your computer because you don’t have to open the case to install. Creative’s USB SoundBlaster Live! 24-bit external sound card connects to your PC via a single USB port and provides your computer with Home Theater sound quality.
The great thing about SoundBlaster external sound cards is that you can place them on your desktop and have a volume control you can reach easily without having to search through menu bars on your PC to change volume. The soundcard as an array of ports, including Microphone and line in/out ports you can connect a wide range of different audio equipment.
There are a couple of problems with the Creative External Sound card though, first off I know firsthand that external sound cards aren’t great for 3D positioning while gaming due to the amount of calculations taking place. Second, because it’s quite old, this Creative sound card doesn’t come with Vista drivers but this is easily sorted by visiting the official Creative Site and downloading the latest drivers.
If you take a look at this product on Amazon you can see the pages and Pages worth of 5 star reviews on this product (Which you can read here), personally I don’t buy external sound cards anymore because I build pre-built systems but if you have trouble getting to the audio ports at the back of your computer the Creative Sound Blaster Live! External sound card could be the product for you.
Main Features
- High Audio Quality
- Connect via USB 1.1
- Tones of Multimedia software

Logitech V470 Notebook Mouse| Wireless Bluetooth Laptop Mouse Blue or White
Written by Admin on February 27, 2008
Notebooks are known for the lack of USB ports and annoying touchpads, so if you’re looking for a way to stop using the touchpad and have no USB ports left Logitech have again come to the rescue with the Logitech V470 Cordless Laser Mouse. As one of the only wireless Bluetooth mice available, if you’re using a modern laptop with Bluetooth inbuilt then you’re not going to need an extra dongle taking up one of those precious USB ports.
The form factor was a nice surprise as most notebook mice aren’t built for my hand size, but this one felt surprisingly comfortable in my hand. It’s not quite as big as a standard Logitech desktop mouse, so it’s easily portable but the mouse isn’t too small either which would make it hard to use.
I’ve used Mice in the past that have unchangeable inbuilt batteries that you need to remember to charge when not in use, and if you forget then you’re out of a mouse for a couple of hours while it’s recharging. The Logitech V470 on the other hand takes 2 AAA batteries, so you’ll be able to carry spares in your laptop bag or even find somewhere to buy new batteries pretty easily when they run down. To help with this though Logitech provided a handy On/Off switch to help to save the batteries.
The Logitech V470 comes with a pretty good laser, and worked in almost any surface that I tried without noticeable lag. The Logitech V470 even comes with its own carry pouch to prevent damage while travelling.
Main Features
- Bluetooth with range of 30m
- Stylish Design
- Works with both MAC and PC

9800 Series card released around March | Geforce9800 GX2, Geforce9800 GT, Geforce9800 GTX
Written by Admin on February 26, 2008
If you’re a gamer looking to upgrade your graphics card now is not the best time to do it. With Nvidia’s Geforce 9000 range are being released in the first quarter of 2008 and a price shift will happen around March when the 9800GTX will be released, with the 9600 already being released.
The three new cards in the 9800 series that are being released are the Geforce9800 GX2, Geforce9800 GTX and Geforce9800 GT. The specs on these cards are currently been spread throughout the internet, so it’s an exciting time for gamers everywhere. Although corners do seem to have been cut with the 9800GTX using the same Cooler as the 8800GTS
The 9800 GX2 Card is a Dual-Chip graphics card that will actually work with Quad SLI, while the 9800 GTX will support up to 3 cards at once. Prices are yet to be fully known, and it is doubtful that many gamers will go out and buy 3 expensive cards when there is only really one game that really justifies spending that amount of money, that being Crysis.
In the short term, the best thing that will come from this new generation of cards will be the price restructure within the market. Every time a big release like is announced, there is a fall in price of the old cards so the new cards are the same price as the old. This is great news for the average gamer, because that Card you were going to buy suddenly becomes cheaper
Edit
The Geforce9800 cards are now out, check bellow for more details on where to find them

Thermaltake Armor | Computer Case - 250mm Fan - Tool less Design
Written by Admin on February 24, 2008
The Thermaltake Armor is one of the largest cases I have ever used, it has support for 11 5.25” drive bays with the option to move the power switch and. You can also house a 3.5” drive in the same slot as the power button, giving maximum flexibility.
Thermaltake are one of the leading brands in keeping the case cool, on the front of the case in the bays where no drives are installed there is wire mesh to allow the air to flow straight into the case with sponge behind each piece of mesh to catch the dust before it gets into the system.
The large 250mm fan on the side of the case allows air to flow to almost all of the Heat sources on the motherboard, keeping the air moving. There are also another 2 fans on the back of the machine, one on the top and one at the front, this front fan pulls air through the Hard Drives keeping them cool.
The Thermaltake Armor also has a handy tray at the bottom of the case to hold CDs or any other bits and bobs you may need if you go to a LAN party.
Main Features
- Movable bays
- Tool less design
- Padlocked
